Critical Issues in Effective Management of a Non Government Organization (NGO) : A Case Study of Rajasthan Bal Kalyan Samiti

NGOs perform variety of roles in our society and there is hardly any area which is left untouched by the NGO, be it natural resources, finance, human settlements, social development, culture, education and energy. NGO's have played an effective role in changing the scenario of the present world either by setting agendas or by pushing government to do things, which they needed to do. By networking, co-ordinating and circulating information, by follow up and monitoring implementation problems, challenging power relationships, supporting the voice of the community and civil society and networking to exchange practical experience and mobilise resources for projects, NGO performs a wide variety of function. Managing an NGO involves different regulatory, financial and sustainability challenges in different countries. This case study of Rajasthan Bal Kalyan Samiti (RBKS) brings to the fore certain critical issues and challenges in successfully managing an NGO in India. The study has relevance to all those who have academic or professional interest in the management of NGOs in India
