The author in this present article has tried to trace the evolution of Cryptocurrency in India. Furthermore, he analysed the Cryptocurrency jurisprudence in different jurisdictions wherein he found that some countries have banned it and some have not. He also tries to understand India's stance on Cryptocurrency and the implications of the Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021 which puts a blanket ban on ‘private’ Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and introduce its own digital currency which is often termed as ‘Central Bank Digital Currency’ (‘CBDC’) like Tunisia’s eDinar (launched in 2015), or the most recent China’s digital Yuan (2020)
