Das Brennstoffzellen-Rennen: Aktivitäten und Strategien bezüglich Wasserstoff und Brennstoffzelle in der Automobilindustrie
Technologische Durchbrüche, die kalifornische Null-Emissions-Gesetzgebung, Innovationswettbewerb und die Vision einer nachhaltigen Automobilität haben seit den späten 1990er Jahren zu milliardenschweren Entwicklungsanstrengungen geführt und die wasserstoffbetrie-bene Brennstoffzelle zu der Zukunftstechnologie in der Automobilindustrie gemacht. Vertreter der Automobilindustrie sehen in der Brennstoffzelle eine erste echte Alternative zum eta-blierten Verbrennungsmotor. Doch die Etablierung einer radikal neuen Antriebstechnologie und die Transformation des großtechnischen Systems Automobil erweisen sich, wie alle grundlegenden Innovationen, eher als ein Marathon- denn als ein Kurzstreckenrennen - mit ergebnisoffenem Ausgang. Die langfristige Perspektive eröffnet die Möglichkeit für die sozialwissenschaftliche Mobilitäts- und Innovationsforschung den Versuch eines grund-legenden Technologiewechsels in der Automobilindustrie in Echtzeit zu begleiten. Die vorliegende Studie bietet mit einer umfassenden Darstellung der Aktivitäten und Strategien der Automobilhersteller bezüglich Wasserstoff und Brennstoffzelle eine fundierte Grundlage für weitergehende vertiefende Untersuchungen zum Thema.
