Decision-making as a 'convenient fiction'

Eine übertriebene Beschäftigung von Organisations- und Managementstudien mit Entscheidungskonzepten hat das Bild eines "organisatorischen Menschen" geprägt, der die Welt anhand von Repräsentationen, Zwecken und Entscheidungen abhandelt. Dies verstärkte die Annahme, dass eine Person, bevor sie eine Handlung vollzieht, in einen Prozess der bewussten Zielsetzung involviert ist. Das Bild von Organisationen entwickelte sich auf der Basis analoger Mechanismen, wobei rationalistische und lineare Prozesse bevorzugt wurden, bei denen die organisatorische Struktur und Strategie notwendigerweise vom Menschen konstruiert wurde und sich nicht selber kontrollierte. Diese Annahmen, die in den intellektuellen Prioritäten von zeitgenössischen Organisations- und Managementtheoristen vertreten sind, haben den Weg für ein "institutionelles Denken" bereitet. Diese Arbeit hinterfragt die Universalität der erwähnten intellektuellen Prioritäten, indem sie sie gegen historische, sozioökonomische und epistemologische Kontexte stellt, aus denen sie hervorgegangen sind. Dies hat den Vorteil, dass es alternative Sichtweisen in den Vordergrund rückt, die Auskunft über die Konstitution der menschlichen Führung, Gesellschaftsschicht und des Wissens geben. Ich stelle mich gegen die konventionelle Trennung von Agent (Vertreter) und struktureller Abschlüsse der Sozialwissenschaften, mit dem Gedanken des Spiels als Schlüssel zu einer ontologischen Erklärung. Ich veranschauliche dies anhand des Afro- Brasilianischen Brauch von Capoeira, das eine Form erzeugt, die auf unabsichtlichen Körperaktionen basiert. Diese alternative Weise, der Welt durch "fühlende Kontinuität" zu begegnen, ermöglicht die Unterscheidung zwischen Organisationen als Institutionen und Organisationen als Handlungen des Organisierens. Dies ist eine Beobachtung, die von Mainstreamorganisationen und Managementstudien häufig übersehen worden ist.
