In contemporary times, Batabyal (1999) has demonstrated that when the decision to get married in an arranged marriage is studied in a dynamic and probabilistic setting, it is possible that a marrying individual will never get married. This outcome arises because the marrying individual in Batabyal (1999) optimizes the likelihood of accepting the most desirable marriage proposal. What happens when a marrying individual uses this decision rule: Get married as long as the quality of a marriage proposal is larger than a random reservation quality level? In this paper, we provide an interesting answer to this query. First, we demonstrate that the likelihood of getting married with this decision rule is always positive.
