Der Stand der schweizerischen Fiskalpolitik. Eine Analyse anhand neuer Fiskalindikatoren
This article analyses the state of the fiscal policy pursued by the Swiss Confederation (central government) in the eighties and nineties by means of a set of new fiscal indicators. The annual discretionary change in fiscal policy, the sustainability of the fiscal policy and its impact on aggregate demand are analysed. The results show that the Swiss Confederation adheres to a strongly procyclic fiscal policy. In the years after 1990, it has become unsustainable in the long run without adjustments; it has a negative influence on the size of aggregate savings as it increases demand.
