DESARROLLO SOSTENIBLE: ¿CÓMO ES ENTENDIDO POR SUS PROTAGONISTAS?
El concepto de desarrollo sostenible se ha introducido en el discurso político desde hace unas décadas, pero lamentablemente su consecución en la práctica dista todavía en una medida considerable de los objetivos propuestos. Así pues, el objetivo de este trabajo es mostrar cómo la ambigüedad de la definición atribuida al desarrollo sostenible se observa, sobre todo, en su puesta en práctica. Para lograr el objetivo, el ámbito de estudio se ha situado en el medio rural, por ser más fácilmente abarcable, pero también por ser un espacio donde se plantea una relación mucho más estrecha entre la actividad económica y social, y su naturaleza. No obstante, todavía se ha limitado más el ámbito de estudio a un espacio de gran riqueza ambiental, por entender que éste es un territorio donde están presentes dos elementos centrales: la necesidad del desarrollo socioeconómico y la necesidad de que este desarrollo sea sostenible para seguir manteniendo la riqueza natural que le diferencia. Así, se realiza un análisis interpretativo del sistema territorial a través de un diagnóstico de la situación existente y de un análisis de las prácticas de uso, analizando la interacción entre medio ambiente, economía y sociedad, y es aquí donde se observan la falta de sintonía y las contradicciones existentes entre las políticas dictadas y las prioridades establecidas por la sociedad para alcanzar lo que ella define como desarrollo sostenible.
