Dihing Patkai Biodiversity Conservation

Dihing Patkai is located in Assam and is also referred to as East Amazon. It is home to several other varieties of both domestic and migratory species contributing to the richness of natural Biodiversity in Assam. But in the recent past due to progress in human civilization leading to unprecedented development, the Wildlife is now under threat of destruction. On the other hand, the concept of sustainable development has been appreciated at the global level to meet the inconsistencies existing between economic development and environmental protection. This article will therefore attempt to analyze that whether the developmental activities that are proposed in and around the Wildlife Sanctuary are based on the Principles of Sustainable Development, or if not then to what extent such activities can be held as beneficial either to the ecosystem or to the mankind?
