Dislocation and the Employment of Older Workers
Lately, I am often asked whether layoffs that are widely observed among large Japanese corporations may destroy the employment system in Japan. Is this concern indeed well-founded? Are there unexpected problems in the Japanese approach to employment? To examine these questions is the theme of this article.
