Dynamics, Tools and Techniques for the Collectivization of Tacit Knowledge in Work-Teams

This paper examines the means undertaken by teams of MBA students - engaged in consultancy projects with local companies - to generate and apply tacit knowledge. Such knowledge was needed as a means of providing the necessary stages to ensure successful completion of the projects. How this knowledge was assimilated and used by the teams, with consequences relating to individual and team development, is further described. The programme module in which this activity took place was 'Strategic Integrated Management Systems' - usually known as SIMS. This is the description of the first phase of the research that has now evolved into a three -phase project. The paper continues beyond the first phase as described in the B.E.S.I. 1999 conference at Las Palmas, Gran Canaria and discusses the results and developments to date in Phase 2
