Economic Development and Economic Variables : An Analyze of Emergent Countries

The economic growth is an important aspect in the government agenda, whether a developed countries or a developing countries. The proof is the focused of researchers in the relationship between the economic variables and the economic growth and development. Therefore, the focus this paper is analyze the GDP per capita and the relationship with economic variables, for this were used annual data of BRICS, that are emergent countries, of period of 1995 to 2013. The method used is a non-dynamics panel with threshold. The results suggest that the growth and development is associated with smaller exchange rate, unemployment rates and interest rate. Can be infer that the higher volume of exports influence positively, and the findings about the variable investment present negative coefficient, indicating that the decrease in investment do not influence the GDP per capita. Some results confirmed by literature, how the findings about the variables unemployment, inflation, exports and exchange rate. The findings can be indicate that these variables presented different behavior in crisis and economic recession and in expansion periods, represented for the first and fourth regimes, respectively, and results vary among them. It confirmed the importance of exchange rate in economic growth, how verified in previous studies. Thereby, can be said that the threshold approach is an interesting method as it observes different regimes and analyze the problem in more detail
