Effective Management Decision Making and Operational Effectiveness in Nigeria

This study sought to evaluate the imperatives of effective management decision making on operational effectiveness in Nigeria. Despite different models of decision making on effective management decision incorporates problem identification; data gathering, communication, ethical standards, management commitment and implementation. There is evidence in the literature of operational failures due to lack of ethical standards in management decision making as well as credible evidence to support the hypothesis that effective management decision making is critical to enterprise survival. The exploratory research method was used for the study. Data were generated through primary and secondary sources. Through data analysis it was found that effective management decision making has significant positive relationship with operational effectiveness. On the basis of this result, it was among others, suggested that data about important decisions should be communicated to top management by the company to enhance the efficacy of management decisions
