Emerging Europe - Turkish banks draw strength from past mistakes - Turkey's 2001 -02 banking crisis prompted a huge bail-out and consolidation and the introduction of a strict regulatory regime. This has underpinned bank strength in a period of loan growth. GDP growth is slowing but the strength should persist and there is a reservoir of unbanked cash still to be tapped.
