Entrepreneurship Policy in Bavaria : Between Laptop and Lederhosen

This chapter highlights the success of entrepreneurship policy in one of the most innovative Region in Europe: Bavaria. With the beginning of the early 1990's, Bavaria strongly followed an entrepreneurship policy which is called "Between Laptop and Lederhosen". This trade-off describes entrepreneurship policy between the traditional and sometimes conservative tradition and the emergence of a new entrepreneurship policy to foster high innovative firms and thus to lower unemployment and increase welfare. As a consequence, Bavaria with its capitol Munich has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Europe and is a leading regions in Biotechnology and other high technology industries
