Enttäuschende Wachstumszahlen für die neuen Länder - Aufschwung Ost ade?

Das niedrige BIP-Wachstum 2000 signalisiert nicht ein Nachlassen der Wachstumskräfte, sondern ist auf einen weiteren Schub im Schrumpfungsprozess der überdimensionierten ostdeutschen Bauwirtschaft zurückzuführen. Wenn dieser Anpassungsprozess ausgestanden ist, dürfte die ostdeutsche Wirtschaft wieder stärker als die westdeutsche wachsen. Der Aufholprozess würde allerdings wenigstens 40 Jahre dauern. Andere Länder zeigen, dass es schneller geht. Die Träger der Wirtschafts- und Tarifpolitik müssen vor alllem die Wachstumsbedingungen für den Dienstleistungsbereich in Ostdeutschland verbessern.
