Essentials of Performance Measurement System : A Behavioural Approach to Performance Management

Increased competition, complex processes, rapid technological changes and unmatched business expectations, have all combined in such a way that organization are being expected to achieve more out of less. The traditional measurement system is finding it difficult to cope with the changing business expectations. There is a need to review the performance measurement system and its application in the light of changing expectations. This paper is an effort to examine the essential element in performance measurement concepts and approaches in measurement system adopted by different organizations. This paper, further, aims to underline the causal factors for the gap between expectations and achievements by analyzing the various dimensions and the performance measure in the organizations
