An Evaluation of the Nuclear, Biological and Cyber Security Threats Faced and Response Policies of the United States : Issues of Vulnerability

A dynamic global security environment makes it indispensable to study the national security policy of the United States in light of the issues and vulnerabilities posed by frequent perils from innumerable sources. With the growing threat of the use of weapons of mass destruction by several state and non-state actors, the most plausible discussion in terms of the national security policy is to understand the possibilities of encountering a nuclear or biological attack and arguments that go in favor of their probability of occurrence. Further, heavy reliance on computerized systems and their vital role in effectively managing the most critical infrastructures, communication systems, transportation systems as well as research in the field of life sciences, medicine, defense, and several other areas, makes the cyber security policy of a country as industrialized and developed like the United States extremely crucial for the administration as well as the general public. This study attempts to explore these issues from both historical and current perspectives
