Das Konzept dynamischer Fähigkeiten gilt im Strategischen Management als Hoffnungsträger der theoretischen Entwicklung und ist dennoch umstritten. Heike Marita Hölzner untersucht das theoretische Fundament dieser Fähigkeitsmodelle. Sie entwickelt eine Heuristik zur Einordnung der Wissenschaftlichkeit strategischer Theorien, die sie auf den Capability-based View anwendet. Dadurch zeigt die Autorin für künftige Forschungen eine klare Entwicklungsrichtung auf. Mit Hilfe verschiedener Organisationstheorien entwirft sie zudem ein integriertes Modell zur Erklärung der Entstehung und Veränderung organisationaler Fähigkeiten, das viele bisherige Erklärungslücken schließt.
