Factors Affecting Financial Institutions To Adopt Mobile Peer-To-Peer Platforms

This cross-sectional study empirically tested a model to predict heterogeneous factors affecting financial institutions’ behavioural intentions toward using mobile peer-to-peer platforms. It explored behavioural intention from the perspective of financial institutions by combining behavioural and instrument factors from frameworks grounded on the Net Valence Theory and the Theory of Reasoned Action. Data were derived from an online survey with 88 organisations and analyzed using PLS-SEM for hypothesis testing. The results revealed that (1) instrument mobile perceived trust is a good mediator of heterogenous factors, including economic ones, (2) the perceived risk has no effects when a mobile perceived trust significantly influences the intention, (3) the mobile perceived usefulness plays no role in the new mobile context (4) combining behavioural (extrinsic) and instrument (intrinsic) factors are vital and significant in mobile financial business models. Moreover, the results recommend that practitioners focus on mobile perceived trust, perceived convenience, perceived economics, and mobile perceived ease of use as the primary drivers of mobile peer-to-peer platforms adoption. These factors significantly enhance the adoption rate of mobile peer-to-peer platforms. Hence, FinTech and mobile technology regulators are advised to adopt a regulatory framework that helps build mobile perceived trust among financial institutions
