Fattigdom i Danmark : en socioøkonomisk fattigdomsgrænse : a socioeconomic poverty threshold

The purpose of this project is to develop a quantitative statistical model over poverty in Denmark, which takes into account social mobility and social heritage. The project defines a new poverty threshold and carries out a discussion upon the pros and cons of this new poverty threshold and its applications to Danish policy making. The necessary statistical theory is deployed and a set of models and assumptions established to model the poverty explicitly and in a statistically central method. With these models the project measures the poverty development in Denmark over the past decade and the many factors contributing and influenced by poverty using data from the Luxembourg Income Study and the European Social Survey . Overall the project finds a major increase of poverty over the last decade, with strong indication of further increases, and further identifies a range of risk factors including unemployment, education and ethnicity.
