Financial Integration and Economic Growth : Case Study of Nigeria's Macro Economy (1986-2008)

This study sought to determine the impact of financial liberalization and its benefits on the economic growth of Nigeria. We established that although a positive relationship exists between financial openness economic growth in Nigeria, it is however does not have significant effects on the country's economic growth. In this light, it is expected that sound macroeconomic policies and environment, healthy domestic institutions, efficient financial sector and effective systems for monitoring capital flows as suggested in the section above, can assist largely in fostering sustainable economic growth within the ambit of a financially liberalized economy
