Fine Versus Imprisonment

Fine and imprisonment, as they situate as regularly employed forms of imprisonment, are just means to translate the criminal liability into a physically understood bearing. Yet they pose a large number of questions before they are imposed upon even a single convict. The reason is of their essence and intent. While fine has traditionally been understood as a lenient form of punishment as regards imprisonment, yet the questions affecting our choice do not end here. What is of significance at the stage of the award of punishment is the object of the judge in imposing the punishment that he selects as apt for the particular offender.
