The Formation of Young People's Preferences for Their Professional Career and Social Standards : Data From the Municipality of North Kynouria (Η Διαμόρφωση των προτιμήσεων και των κοινωνικών πρότυπων των νέων για την επαγγελματική τους σταδιοδρομία. Στοιχεία από την Περιφέρεια Νότιας Κυνουρίας)
The subject of the master's thesis aims to investigate the factors that affect now in the past people who are already in the workforce, professionals, employees and students in the process of choosing their career path tour Municipality of South Kynouria. There is a human tendency from a very young age to envision professional targets via our social circle (family-friends-school-mass media- surroundings, etc.), determining living in general. Each person dedicates most of his life as an employee, to a specific field or a profession. This the most significant part of his/her personality. This part is experience shapes up significant as they socialize, self-emancipate, self-reward or not, get a position - bringing prestige, and at last, where satisfy their demands (social connections, estimation, security, autonomy, self-actualization). A critical milestone of each person is what scientific field to follow and of course a profession. Many factors influence possible courses of action, towards a good direction or what fits somebody best. The scope of the survey in this master thesis is to identify - examine the role of the family, the place of residence, as well as which are the social standards in the decision process of a candidate employee or those that are following a specific profession. In addition, how are all these factors combined and how have they contributed to the decision-making. In order to identify the respondents' opinions in the best way possible, it was implemented a cross – sectional quantitation analysis was chosen with questionaries. In the survey participated 151 people classified into the following categories: high-school students, tertiary students, employees with different legal statutes (public servants, private employees or freelancers, self-employees), people in housekeeping, people from the agricultural sector, pensioners and/or unemployed. The results identified both, positive and negative factors that are related to career choice. The findings of this research constitute a useful material and a source of inspiration for those who read this master thesis. Moreover, this study highlights the importance of taking responsibility for one’s own choice in life, work, residency etc. the selection of a specific profession as a conscious decision, thus, a decision that is not a personal option; forced by third parties; impose by others
