Gender Gaps in Public Spending for Health Care in the Republic of Moldova

The objective of gender studies is to achieve the development with equity for men and women. The observed difference in the gender division of labour in wage, education, occupation, employment, healthcare, social security and, more importantly, the unequal access and control over resources and participation in decision-making, which influence the lives of both gender, must be considered. Although women are central to the issues in development, they are prevented from fully participating by constraints (family and care responsibilities) that limit their opportunities, but men are more interested in the flexible working time arrangements; it may help the combination of these responsibilities; at the same time, however, they can reinforce existing gender inequalities and segmentation in the labour market. As the object of the study is gender divisions regarding healthcare, deconstructing the question in the above dimensions and then estimating the amount of resources available sexton men and women could be one way of approaching the problem. However, estimating resources available to women, as opposed to men, is quite hard, as it involves economic and non-economic aspects, such as social roles and attitudes to the provision of care (for children or the elderly). It also involves contingent factors (e.g. the state of health of a child or elderly person, or the work situation of a particular woman or man).The general goal of this research is to identify and understand behaviour, attitudes of men and women, changes that occur there in order to develop and monitor policies in the sphere of gender equality. The objectives of given research are as follows: • evaluation of current healthcare trends in the Republic of Moldova regarding the gender equality, as well as the resources used for financing healthcare;• analysis of factors, which influence the determination of men and women to spend money for medical services;• to explain graphically the financial flows in the Republic of Moldova from the health care point of view;• comparing wages/salaries of men and women working in medical sphere and the top jobs occupied by them
