Geschlechterarrangements und Ehestabilität in Ost- und Westdeutschland

Auch zwei Jahrzehnte nach der Wiedervereinigung bestehen in beiden Teilen Deutschlands unterschiedliche Muster im generativen Verhalten und in der Wahl privater Lebensformen fort. Unterschiede bestehen auch in den Geschlechtsrollenvorstellungen, der hausliche Arbeitsteilung und in den in Partnerschaften praktizierten Erwerbsarrangements fort. Der Osten Deutschlands stellt sich hierbei in vielerlei Hinsicht als egalitarer dar. Dies spiegelt sich in einer geringeren Skepsis gegenuber den Konsequenzen von Frauenerwerbstatigkeit fur Partnerschaft und Familie, einer etwas starkeren Beteiligung von Mannern an hauslichen Aufgaben und einer starkeren Partizipation von Muttern am Erwerbsleben wider (Wengler u.a. 2008). Deutlicher Ausdruck dieser fortbestehenden Unterschiede sind Differenzen in der partnerschaftlichen Erwerbsarbeitsteilung: So folgte im Jahr 2008 in Westdeutschland der uberwiegende Anteil von Paaren im erwerbsfahigen Alter einem modernisierten Ernährermodell mit einem vollzeitbeschaftigten Mann und einer teilzeitbeschaftigten Frau, wahrend in Ostdeutschland das doppelte Vollzeitmodell nach wie vor dominiert (SOEPmonitor 2008; Steiber/Haas 2010). Ziel unserer Analysen ist es, den Zusammenhang zwischen Geschlechterarrangements der Arbeitsteilung in Partnerschaften und der Dauer beziehungsweise der Stabilitat ehelicher Lebensgemeinschaften in Ost und West naher zu untersuchen. Wahrend die zusammengefassten Erstheiratsziffern der Frauen in den alten Bundeslandern seit dem Beginn der 1990er Jahre nur noch geringfugig fielen, brachen diese infolge des sozialen und politischen Umbruchs in den neuen Bundeslandern zunachst drastisch ein und haben sich bis 2008 dem Niveau im alten Bundesgebiet nahezu angeglichen. Diese Entwicklungen waren im gesamten Bundesgebiet von einem Anstieg des durchschnittlichen Erstheiratsalters begleitet, das in Ostdeutschland mittlerweile hoher als in Westdeutschland ist (Bundesinstitut fur Bevolkerungsforschung 2010). Die Ehescheidungen weisen, gemessen an verschiedenen Kennziffern seit Anfang der 1990er Jahre, eine steigende Tendenz auf. Nach der Ubertragung des bundesdeutschen Scheidungsrechts auf die neuen Lander gingen dort die Ehescheidungen zunachst deutlich zuruck, stiegen jedoch insbesondere seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre wieder an und lagen bis zum Jahr 2008 unterhalb des Niveaus in den alten Bundeslandern (Krack-Roberg 2009). Vor der Wiedervereinigung wurden Ehen in der DDR dagegen deutlich haufiger geschieden als in der Bundesrepublik (Wagner 1997; Bottcher 2006). Bei der Analyse des Trennungsverhaltens in Ost und West konzentrieren wir uns auf Erst-Ehen, die nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung unter prinzipiell vergleichbaren sozialpolitischen Rahmenbedingungen geschlossen wurden. Anknupfend an familienokonmische und soziologische Debatten, die den Zusammenhang zwischen okonomischer Autonomie von Frauen und Partnerschaftsstabilitat unterschiedlich begrunden, fokussieren wir diesen Beitrag auf das Verhaltnis von Geschlechterarrangements und Partnerschaftsstabilitat im deutsch-deutschen Vergleich seit dem Beginn der 1990er Jahre.
