Global Strategy and the Collaboration of MNEs, NGOs and Governments for the Provisioning of Collective Goods in Emerging Markets

The global business environment is increasingly characterized by dynamic interactions among an ever-widening group of actors – public, for-profit and not-for-profit – involved in the provision of such local collective goods as health, education, transportation and communication in emerging markets. Drawing from transaction-costs economics and institutional theory as well as challenging and expanding them, we analyze the choice of collaborative arrangements for the supply of these collective goods via contracting, alliance, assistance or internalization, and we discuss the implications of these arrangements for MNE nonmarket strategies within the realm of global strategy
