Globalization of Trade Law-The Example of the Argentina-Poultry Case

Due to the "great trend" of economic globalization, international agreements and international organizations are exerting more and more influence upon the legislation, administration and jurisdiction of members of the international community. This phenomenon to some means a weakening of the sovereignty of nations; but to others, it is a result of an exercise of sovereign power by the States. Apparently, the former view emphasizes the facts and manifestations of globalization whilst the latter pays more attention to the underlying reasons for those. No matter from which angle one looks at the issue, what is certain is that nowadays States are constrained in exercising their sovereignty. The reason underpinning such constraint of the exercise of sovereignty is economic globalization, which has resulted in the continuous expansion of the functions, rights and powers of international organizations.
