How COVID-19 Affects Economic Performance in Developing Countries : The Case of Guatemala

The impact of COVID-19 on economic growth is substantial, but measuring such implications to get a sense of the intensity of its effects on economic performance is subject to a great deal of uncertainty. As such, this paper primarily attempts to close this gap by introducing the economics of the pandemics monitoring model (EPM-Model), a new economic model that could be used to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on the Guatemalan economic performance. Hence, Guatemala was used to illustrate the applicability of the EPM-model from where analyses provide a coherent evaluation of the degree to which COVID-19 affects the Guatemala economic performance shortly
