How Generation Y and Z Perceived Business Ethics
Studies show that Generation Y and Z assign more importance to ethics. They both consider organisations and leaders being ethical is vital. However, other studies have shown how these generations are willing to compromise their ethical values. This study aims to explore the perceptions of Generation Y and Z of business ethics. A qualitative study using a structured questionnaire was conducted targeting Indonesian members of Generation Y and Z. A total of 201 respondents were asked to express their opinions on topics related to this study’s research questions. The collected data were analysed using thematic categories with NVIVO. The study results showed that Generation Y and Z are ready to make ethical decisions even though they may lack training or education. The crucial finding from this study is that 25% of Generation Y and Z are willing to compromise their ethical behaviour if it is for the common good. The study also revealed that both generations considered the importance of leaders in implementing ethical behaviour in their organisations
