How the Provincial Regional Characters Influence the Corporate Philanthropic Disaster Response? - An Empirical Study of China '5•12' Wenchuan Earthquake

Based on the data of the amounts and the numbers of corporate philanthropic donation after '5•12' Wenchuan Earthquake of China, the paper conducted the empirical research on how the features of 31 provinces of China mainland, such as the policy environment (market-oriented process degree) and the level of economic development and corporate social network, influenced the corporate philanthropic behavior. The result showed the amounts and the numbers of enterprises donation were directly proportion to the each province’s economic development level. The policy environment had significant influence on the amounts and the numbers of corporate donation which indicated there existed government-oriented potency in China corporate philanthropy. The corporate donation behavior was influenced by social network formed by the firms on the regional level
