Survey 2002, second edition, gives a new, quick and complete insight into the application of the European Social Charter by thirty-one European states.For more than thirty years, the European Committee of Social Rights has clarified and concretised the fundamental social rights guaranteed by the Charter. It reviews annually the legislation and practice in these states and assesses their compliance with the obligations undertaken.This publication presents by country, the state of conformity in 2002 of national situations with the Charter and describes the impact of the Charter on them.The recapiluatory tables enables the reader to choose a comparative approach to the performance of each state in the field of fundamental social rights.
