Industrial Restructuring and Policy Issues in the Republic of Moldova

This paper focuses on the restructuring of Moldovan industry. Its purpose is to analyze the actual situation, the experience of restructuring and the role that industrial restructuring can play in favoring the process of obtaining economic stability and growth. The central conclusion of this paper is that the restructuring of Moldovan industry is an obligatory step of the economic transformation process. Current economic difficulties have both microeconomic and political causes. They are rooted in the industrial structure that generates losses as the result of the low-level competitiveness, in the loss of traditional export partners for our industry, and in the high level of criminalization of the economy
