Innovationen in der Bauwirtschaft: Patentaktivitäten der deutschen und europäischen Wertschöpfungskette Bau
Mit 17,6 Prozent aller Anmeldungen im Technikbereich beim Europäischen Patentamt von 2005 bis 2012 nehmen die deutschen Patentaktivitäten im internationalen Vergleich eine Spitzenstellung ein. Die Dominanz der süddeutschen Bundesländer und die starke Bedeutung der industriellen Zulieferer aus Branchen wie Metallverarbeitung, Maschinenbau, Kunststoffe, Chemie lassen erkennen, dass sich hier generelle Stärken des deutschen Innovationssystems wiederfinden. Gerade auch in den Regionen, in denen die absolute Innovationstätigkeit nicht so stark ausgeprägt ist (vor allem Nord- und Ostdeutschland), nehmen bautechnische Innovationen eine wichtige Rolle in den regionalen Innovationssystemen ein. Mit 6,3 Prozent relativ gering erscheint die Beteiligung des Kernbereichs der Bauwirtschaft (Bauhauptgewerbe, Ausbaugewerbe). Allerdings ist die Baubranche stark anwendungsbezogen. Bauunternehmen sind im Bauprozess vor allem als Technikintegratoren zu verstehen. Aus Hochschulen und Forschungseinrichtungen stammen 3,1 Prozent der Patente; unterdurchschnittlich beteiligt sind auch die baubezogenen Dienstleister wie Architekten und Ingenieurbüros.
