Innovationen in der Gesundheitswirtschaft: Beteiligung an klinischen Studien als Standortindikator
Medizinisch technische Innovationen sind eine der Triebkräfte der Gesundheitswirtschaft. Als Indikator für das Innovationspotenzial von Regionen und Institutionen eignen sich klinische Studien besser als Patente. Weltweit waren im Februar 2008 rund 52.000 klinische Studien registriert, von denen in Europa rund 11.000 Studien und in den USA etwa 30.000 Studien durchgeführt werden. Die Bundesrepublik ist mit rund 3.000 klinischen Studien Spitzenreiter in Europa, wird aber mittlerweile von den asiatischen Ländern überholt. In der Bundesrepublik nimmt das Ruhrgebiet vor Berlin, München und Hamburg die Spitzenposition ein. Mit entscheidend in der Gesundheitswirtschaft als Dienstleistungsbranche ist die Kombination fachlicher Kompetenz mit hoher Nachfrage. Um die gute Ausgangssituation der Bundesrepublik zu erhalten, sind überregionale und vor allem auch internationale Kooperationen bei klinischen Studien nötig.
