Introduction to the Region and Trade : New Analytical Directions

The purpose of this introductory chapter is to provide an overview of the contents of this book titled The Region and Trade: New Analytical Directions. Following this introductory chapter which comprises Part I of the book, there are 11 chapters and each of these chapters — written by an expert or by a team of experts — discusses a particular research question in interregional trade. For ease of comprehension, we have divided these 11 chapters into three parts. Part II of this book consists of three chapters and these three chapters focus on theoretical research questions. Part III is concerned with empirical research questions and this part consists of five chapters. Finally, the three chapters that comprise Part IV of this book are devoted to a discussion of theoretical and empirical approaches to the analysis of research questions in interregional trade
