LA PROTECCIÓN DE LOS CONOCIMIENTOS TRADICIONALES Y DE LOS RECURSOS GENÉTICOS EN LA OMPI Y EN EL CDB.
La protección de los Recursos Genéticos y de los Conocimientos Tradicionales se debate en distintos foros, como son la OMPI (Organización Mundial de la Propiedad Intelectual) y el CDB (Convenio sobre Diversidad Biológica), debido a las patentes relacionadas con la biodiversidad y con los conocimientos tradicionales asociados a recursos genéticos. La OMPI inició en 2001 un "Comité Intergubernamental sobre Propiedad Intelectual y Recursos Genéticos, Conocimientos Tradicionales y Folclore" (IGC) que, actualmente, tiene el mandato de negociar un instrumento internacional para la protección de conocimientos tradicionales, expresiones culturales tradicionales y recursos genéticos.
