Largest and Predominant Owners in Russian Industry
The impact of the ownership factor on the economic behavior of enterprises is a condition of the fact that shareholders possess the right to control the activity of the firm. From this standpoint, an exceedingly important issue is in whose hands ownership lies and how fully it can be realized in practiceâthat is, the predominant >i>types of control>/i> in the economy. However, real control over the activity of companies is not an observable variable given to direct measurement. One has to make judgments regarding its presence or absence and the extent of its effectiveness based on indirect traits. Two characteristics are pivotal here.
