LASER LEVELING AND FEDERAL INCENTIVES

Our empirical analysis shows that federal tax and cost-sharing incentives significantly affect the profitability of laser leveling Â– a new irrigation technology which sharply reduces gravity water applications. However, the structure of the incentives may make slow rather than rapid adoption of the technology most profitable. Methodology plus results for a wide range of physical and economic conditions are given.
