Findings – With UK business striving to move further up the value added chain, to focus on areas of high technology and innovation and so better compete in the global economy, biotechnology is seen as an increasing vital sector. It is therefore good news that despite a global slowdown, and severe “bloodletting”, a recent report confirms that the UK's biotechnology sector still remains the most successful and sustainable in Europe, second in the world only to the USA. Practical implications – Provides strategic insights and practical thinking that have influenced some of the world's leading organizations.
