Les collectivités locales en Espagne : entre continuité et rénovation

The first part of this report deals with the evolution of Spanish local governments throughout the non-democratic period (1950-1975) and the beginning and development of the decentralization (1978-1988). In the nineties, local authorities claimed the need to reinforce their local governments by means of « local agreements ». These were the beginnings of a second or new decentralization. The second part talks about the future of local governments, that will depend on a certain restrictive interpretation of this agreement. Classification JEL : H71, H72.
