Les systèmes de retraite du Maghreb face au vieillissement démographique
Pensions systems in North African countries, inherited from colonial times, are made up of obligatory and public contributive regimes. With pension rates slightly higher than European ones, the average pension is nevertheless low. Moreover, only a range of the population is covered because of the informal employment?s size. Demographic shock caused by fertility fall and increase in life expectancy should bring together the dependency ratio of the over sixty years old population to the European one. This demographic shock should also threaten the weak financial equilibrium of pension offices. Governments are determined to reform pensions systems, but processes have started unequally in the three countries.
