Les tribulations de la parité euro/dollar
Les premières années d’existence officielle de l’euro n’ont pas été un long fleuve tranquille. Alors qu’une appréciation était légitimement attendue, l’euro s’est au contraire régulièrement déprécié vis-à-vis du dollar, de son introduction en janvier 1999 jusqu’à la fin 2001. La dégradation du déficit courant américain à cette époque et la baisse plus importante outre-Atlantique du rendement des actions étaient pourtant largement défavorables au billet vert. Le dollar aurait alors puisé sa force dans les anticipations de croissance potentielle plus forte associées à la « nouvelle économie ». Et de telles anticipations ne sont pas prises en compte (ou de manière incomplète) dans une modélisation traditionnelle du taux de change (...).
