Linking Networking Behavior, Career Satisfaction, and Work-to-Family Facilitation : Comparing United States and Hong Kong Employees

This study of United States (US) and Hong Kong (HK) employees explores the linkages among networking behavior, instrumental and expressive resources received, career satisfaction, and work-to-family facilitation. Our results indicate that (1) three types of networking behavior were differentially linked to employees’ receipt of instrumental versus expressive network resources, with notable US-HK differences, (2) participation in professional activities was not useful for generating network resources in either society, and (3) receipt of instrumental network resources was related to career satisfaction and work-to-family facilitation in both the US and HK
