Making strategy happen: Common patterns of strategic success and failure
Against a background of increasingly common corporate failure, Robert Davies sets out a multistage strategy development and implementation cycle within which the reasons for failure fall into distinct clusters. This cycle is called the 'Strategic Action Process' and not only identifies potential sources of failure, but can also be used as a learning process which incorporates the characteristics of 'best practice' firms which have helped them to avoid pitfalls. Overall, the Strategic Action Process enables everyday operations throughout the company to become more strategic.
