Malay ideas on development : From feudal lord to capitalist

The main aim of this book is to question some of the present assumptions in looking at the problems of Malay development. Chapter One evaluates the Malay court circle during the days of feudalism. Chapter Two reflects on the ideas of Abdullah Abdul Kadir Munshi, who has been considered a traitor as well as an "Anglophile", on Malay development. Chapter Three analyses the relationship between the traditional Malay elite and capitalism, while the follwing pasts concentrate on different thoughts on development by Syed Sheileh Alhady, Abdul Rahim Kajai and Tunku Abdul Rahman, the islamic reformer, the Malay journalist and nationalist, and the first Malaysian Prime Minister respectively.
