Managing diversity at Dow Chemical and Texas Commerce Bank
Better communications between managers and their employees are helping two US companies – Dow Chemical and Texas Commerce Bank – to manage their diverse workforces. Dow Chemical reports greater empowerment and improved attitudes to work following adoption of a new process for managing personal growth. Employees understand better how to discuss problems and challenges with their managers, and suggest improvements. Texas Commerce Bank reports more effective teamwork and greater chance of promotion among employees who take part in its mentoring program, one aspect of which involves nurturing managers from minority communities.
