Migrating with Black Swans : Climate Risk and Retirement Planning

This paper summarizes scientific thought on the likelihood of Climate Change and explores potential implications for retirement planning. The thoughts of several authors are combined to place Climate Change risk within the context of Black Swans and Deep Risk and describe implications for retirees migrating through the retirement phase of their life. Evidence of Climate Change and its economic implications are presented and the case made that even those who doubt the likelihood of Climate Change should consider potential climate risk. Suggestions are made for how financial planners should prepare themselves, and their clients, for climate risks
