Mikroekonomska analiza banaka i struktura bankarskog trzista u Hrvatskoj

Banking sector is one of the most important in the market economy. By its intercession between surplus and scarce sectors it enables the transmission of purchasing power for some time, and such in an unavoidable manner the increase of production and consumption, in other words welfare. In countries which are just discovering a market way of doing business, like Croatia, a banking sector can play an important role in promoting growth and development. Like other enterprises, banks behave in such a way that they maximize profit (difference between income and expenditure). A bank maximizes profit at the point in which its marginal return is equal to marginal costs. Although this principle is applied without regard to the structure of the banking market, there are differences in calculation of profit and costs of banks in the situation of full competitiveness, monopoly, monopolistic and oligopolistic competitiveness in the situation of leadership in prices. This article analyses the behavior of banks and structure of banking market in the situation of full competitiveness, monopoly, monopolistic competitiveness and oligopoly to leadership in prices. Afterwards, this analysis is applied to the banking market in Croatia. (SOI : EP: 252)
