Modularität und vertikale Desintegration
Die Relevanz der Konstruktionsweise von Gütern hat in den vergangenen Jahren verstärkte Beachtung in der ökonomischen Literatur gefunden. Insbesondere die Konsequenzen einer modularen Gestaltung von Produkten rückten dabei in den Vordergrund. Dabei wird meist davon ausgegangen, dass sich aus einer modularen Güterstruktur eine modulare Organisationsstruktur des implementierenden Unternehmens ergibt.Die vorliegende Arbeit analysiert diesen postulierten Zusammenhang unter dem Aspekt vertikaler Integrationsentscheidungen. Dazu wird zunächst die These vertikaler Desintegration durch einen modularen Güteraufbau herausgearbeitet, um sie dann im Lichte etablierter Unternehmenstheorien einerseits und ingenieurwissenschaftlicher Methoden andererseits zu überprüfen.Die kritische Gegenüberstellung kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass die Desintegrationsthese in der Literatur für eine empirisch falsifizierbare Überprüfung zu allgemein formuliert ist. Die Arbeit macht anschließend einige Vorschläge zur Konkretisierung.
