Mortalité de la population européenne de Guyane française au début du XVIIIe siècle
Henry Louis and Hurault Jean. ? The mortality of the European Population of French Guyana at the Beginning of the Eighteenth Century. By using well kept parochial records and a nominal census of the entire population which was taken in 1737, it has proved possible to study the mortality of the population of European stock in French Guyana between 1700 and 1736. This study is of great interest because of the period to which it relates and because it shows the deleterious effects of a humid equatorial climate on Europeans. In spite of the high quality of the data, some information is occasionally missing; e.g. age, the date when observation ceased of the date of death. This makes it necessary to use estimates. Finally, the results are compared with those applying to France during the eighteenth century.
